In a shocking development, the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development has issued a critical red alert: Do not patronize anyone or any Imo State government official involved in the illegal reallocation of federal government-owned properties.

According to verified information available to EncumberedProperties.com, some land grabbers in Imo State, allegedly working hand-in-hand with state government officials, are selling lands that belong to the federal government.

Here are some of the properties flagged:

  • Shagari Low Cost, Dick Tiger Uratta, Trans-Egbu Layout, Owerri North LGA
  • Shagari Low Cost, Ezinihitte Mbaise LGA
  • Shagari Low Cost, Mgbidi, Oru East LGA
  • Shell Camp Quarters, Owerri
  • Plot P4 Anel, Aladinma Northern Extension Layout, Owerri
  • ADC Quarters, Forestry and Livestock, Old Nekede, Owerri
  • NIPOST Training Workshop, Industrial Layout, Irete, Owerri West LGA
  • NIPOST Office, Umuguma, Owerri West LGA
  • FEDECO (now INEC), Umuguma, Owerri West LGA
  • Federal Mortgage Land, Action Layout, New Owerri
  • National Root Crops, Imo State, Ohaji Egbema LGA

In this episode of Encumbered Properties Red Alert, the founder of EncumberedProperties.com, Mr. Madueke Enwere, shed more light on this disturbing issue. He recounted a real-life incident where a renowned transport company, EkeneDiliChukwu, was misled into acquiring a federal property, Plot C18, New Market Layout, believing it had been validly allocated by the Imo State government.

The dispute escalated to the National Assembly, with the Nigeria Police making a legal representation to defend their federal ownership. The legal documents and historical title of the land proved the federal government’s ownership, putting a stop to the petition filed by the transport company.

This is just one of many cases where the public could be misled due to incorrect or manipulated records in the state land registry. Even lawyers and investors relying on the Imo State Ministry of Lands are at risk of being misinformed.

What You Must Do Before Buying Any Property in Imo State:

  • Never rely solely on state-issued documents
  • Cross-check the ownership details through federal land registries
  • Contact EncumberedProperties.com for a background check
  • Avoid properties that have been flagged or mentioned by the Federal Ministry
