The Federal Government, through the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development (FMHUD) has issued a critical warning to the general public: Do not patronize anyone or Imo State government officials involved in the fraudulent reallocation of Federal Government-owned lands and properties.

EncumberedProperties.com, is privy to a letter from the Federal Ministry to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) asking for the IGP’s intervention over the illegal scrambling for, parcellation and selling of most Federal Government lands and properties in Imo State.

A lot of unsuspecting buyers have fallen victim already. Irrespective of what the buyers build on the said lands,  the Federal Government will eventually reclaim her lands. This kind of fraud has been ongoing in Imo State for quite some time.

Buying land is not like stopping by the roadside to buy oranges. It is a serious investment that requires proper due diligence. Unfortunately, most land buyers these days are too quick to part with their money without conducting proper searches or verifying ownership. Some don’t even visit or inspect the land they’re buying. Others rely solely on questionable land bureau search results. This is a very risky approach.

That’s why EncumberedProperties.com exists. While every other real estate platform says “Come and buy”, we say “Don’t buy this or that!” Thereby alerting you on the properties that you must not buy!!!

In case you have bought or interested in investing in Imo State. What should you do?

If you’ve already fallen victim, your best course of action is to immediately track down the person who received your money. This is why we always advise against making payments that are not traceable. Always use valid bank transfers. Even if a trusted friend recommends the land, do not rely on hearsay. You must verify everything yourself.

Can You Trust State Land Bureaus?

There have been cases where state land records were altered or manipulated. Some state officials, who should protect public property, are the very ones trespassing on and re-allocating Federal properties. A good example is the Site and Services Scheme, Site 5, Owerri, listed by the Federal Ministry as fraudulently parcelled and reallocated. You may not even see these properties listed under the Federal Government’s name at the state land bureau in Owerri, because the officials therein are part and parcel of this racketeering.
